Alternative and sustainable solvents for green analytical chemistry

Analytical chemistry relies massively on solvents, which are generally petroleum-based and have hazardous effects. The ideal alternative solvents suitable for analysis should high selectivity, solvency, low toxicity, environmental impacts, be easily biodegradable recyclable, obtained from renewable resources at a reasonable price. Obviously, finding the solvent that meets all aforementioned requirements is big challenge. Therefore, selection of optimum will always compromise depending extraction procedure, analytical method, matrix, target molecules. In this current opinion, we provide an instantaneous picture knowledge sustainable used in laboratories either sample preparation or terms innovation development safe products procedures.
